Regulatory actions

From official sources only. A complaint states allegations; it is not a finding.

  • FTC (settlement (complaint + stipulated order)): In the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the FTC alleged that FloatMe charged $1.99/month while promising up to $50 'instantly'. It alleged that new users could get only $20, paid $4 for instant delivery, were told of an algorithm for raising limits that did not exist, and faced dark patterns when cancelling. It also alleged that FloatMe illegally discriminated against applicants whose income came from public assistance. The claims are under the FTC Act, ROSCA and ECOA. FloatMe and the founders had to provide $3 million for refunds and start a fair-lending program. Status: On 2024-09-16 the FTC announced more than $2.6 million in refunds. Source
